Utah Lake is undergoing a water quality study to better understand nutrient loading issues and its impact on the lake. While nutrients are needed for a healthy lake ecosystem, excess concentrations can lead to an increase in algal blooms have the potential increase in frequency and scope. One goal of the study will be to determine what concentration the lake’s ecosystem can support while sustaining the typical recreational activities such as boating, swimming and fishing.
A diverse group of stakeholders has been seated on a steering committee to direct the study through a panel of scientists whom they will select. Below you will find all the tentative information available; a meeting schedule and the Stake Holder process document. For more information, please visit the Division of Water Quality’s page.
